REVIEW → NEXT BUILD | Free worksheets
When your test comes back,
build your next strategy.

“I’ll work harder next time!”
Have you thought that after a test?
Then the next test comes around, and you study in much the same way.
You forget what you meant to change.
If you have reflected on what happened, put those discoveries to use.
Here are two sheets: a Post-test Rebuild Sheet to review your study, and a Two-week Test Planner to record what you do next.
The downloadable sheets and their previews are currently in Japanese.
01
First, take a look at how you studied.
Put your marked test beside your workbook, and make your preparation visible.

Start with three kinds of records.
01
RESULTS
Score · class average · target
How close were you to your target?
02
TIME
Starting date · study time
What did you spend time on?
03
WORKBOOK
How far you worked through it
How far did you get?
If you cannot remember a time, you do not have to invent a number.
How do you mark workbook progress?
Shade the part you completed.
Check it when finished.
Corrections= retry the problems you got wrong on the first pass.
Second pass= attempt the whole test scope again independently.
What happened behind the score?
Compare your marked test and workbook.
Look for a point worth checking.
- You spent time. But still could not solve it?
- You finished the first pass. Did you have time to try again?
- Vocabulary and terms. What was still not secure?
+ What you can now do is part of the result, too.
You solved a problem independently that stopped you before.
A study method you tried helped.
Keep what worked for next time.
02
Choose where to make a change next.
Use the cards along the bottom to choose which subjects need attention next.
Choose → rank and paste → decide an action
Write a subject on each card that applies, then arrange them in the order you need now.
Here is one possible arrangement.
1st | Check this first
A subject with
gaps in understanding
Maths
2nd | Make time for this
A subject you did not
reach a second pass in
Maths
The same subject can go on two cards.
This is only an example.
You choose your order.
Leave out any cards that do not apply.
Turn “try harder” into something you can do.
Try harder at English
↓
Take the words I could not recall,
cover them, and check by writing them.
Try harder at maths
↓
Retry the problems I got wrong on another day,
without looking at the answers.
Choose the material, pages, problem numbers and day, then write them under “next action” on the sheet.
03
After reviewing, try recording your next steps.
Turn “next time I’ll…” into a record over two weeks.

01 Set up the left side first.
Write each subject’s scope and submission date.
Fill in the daily log after you have finished studying that day.
What if the test topics have not been announced?
Start after the previous test’s scope and work through what you are learning now.
Compare with the announced scope when it arrives, and add what is needed.
02 Each box needs only this.
What you did + time spent.
Keep it brief, whether it was memorising or workbook practice.
English | recall practice
Vocabulary 1–20
10 min
Maths | correcting mistakes
Workbook pp. 10–12
25 min
Write that day’s total time for each subject。
Fill in only the subjects you worked on.
Use colours if you like.
Neatly filling every box is not the goal.
03 As you progress, circle your current status.
① → corrections → ② → corrections → +
① First pass 直 Corrections ② Second pass + Extra practice
Circle the symbol on the left.
In the Japanese sheet, 直 means corrections.
You do not need to mark it again every day.
Update it only when you move forward.
How can you use your last review?
- I did not reach a second pass
→ Do not leave the first pass and corrections until just before the test. - I still had facts to memorise
→ Make time to check vocabulary and terms as well as working through the workbook.
04
A record changes your next review.
When the next marked test comes back, your test × your study recordcompare them.
01 Review
What changed?
When you started
Time for corrections and retries
What you could recall in the test
02 Try the next step
Adjust the strategy.
Keep what worked.
Change what did not suit you.
03 Record
Keep a record of what you did.
The tasks and minutes you record
become material for your next review.
Review → try the next step → record → review again.
Build your own strategy through that cycle.
